Cars 2 (2011)
Lightning McQueen is back to entertain you. With the latest installment of the Cars franchise, titled Cars 2 about to hit the screen, its entertainment at its best. This upcoming computer-animated 3-D movie is being produced by Pixar Studios and is distributed by Disney Pictures. It’s scheduled to be released in June, 2011. Although it was initially scheduled to be released in 2012, the release was later moved a year earlier.
The first movie titled Cars was released in the year 2006 and was a major hit. Cars 2 is expected to repeat the success story. It has been directed by J. Lasseter, with Brad Lewis as the co-director. Screenplay of the film is by Ben Queen, while credit for the story goes to John Lasseter, Brad Lewis and Dan Fogelman. The Original Music is by Michael Giacchino, while Jay Shuster acts as the Art Director for the film.
With this latest installment Cars has become the second film by Pixar studios, after Toy Story that has a sequel. The film would be released in IMAX 3D, Disney Digital 3-D, RealD 3D as well as 2-D. Owen Wilson and Larry the Cable Guy reprise their voice roles as Lightning McQueen and Mater. As it is, three of voice actors in the original movie have died since the release of the first movie. George Carlin died of heart failure in June, 2008. He voiced Fillmore. Lloyd Sherr would now voice the role of Fillmore in the upcoming film. Paul Newman died of cancer in September, 2008. He was the voice for Doc Hudson. As it is, Doc Hudson would not return in the film. Joe Ranft died in a motor accident in August, 2005, before Cars was released. He voiced Red in the first film.

The plot of the movie revolves around Star race car Lightning McQueen as well as Mater the tow truck, who continue their friendship taking it to amazing places, as they head towards overseas destinations for competing in the International Grand Prix that is held for determining the fastest car in the world. However, the way to this championship is full of detours, numerous potholes, as well as hilarious surprises as Mater the tow truck, gets caught in his own intriguing adventure, i.e. international espionage.
As he finds himself torn between providing assistance to McQueen in Grand Prix race and at the same time towing a secret mission, the film explores various facets of drama and emotion. Fasten your seatbelts as the movie takes you through an action-packed expedition with a truly explosive chase on the streets of Europe and Japan, with Mater and his friends being watched by the entire world. The very first trailers appeared in the DVD and Blu-ray editions of the third Toy Story, which was released in November, 2010. Apart from that, teaser trailers were also released in YouTube. A full-length trailer of Cars 2 was released on the official YouTube channel of Pixar in November, 2010. It was also shown in Tangled. As it is, a short film called Hawaiian Vacation that would include characters from Toy Story is also said to be included in theatre release of the movie. Apart from that, a video game which is based on Cars is also said to be in the process of development. This game is being developed by the well known firm Avalanche Software while it would be published by Walt Disney Studios for Playstation 3, Wii, Xbox 360, PC as well as Nintendo 3DS. The PS 3 version of this game is said to be featuring stereoscopic 3D game play, although it is not known as to whether this 3DS version would be in 3D format or not. As the movie is about to hit the theaters fans all across the world are anxious waiting. This summer guarantees lots of entertainment.
