The Beaver (2011)
He's here to save Walter's life.
Can the journey of life become so hard and can a man go thorough so much to try and restart his life all over again? This is the question that will be going through your mind when you watch Jodie Foster and Mel Gibson bringing you the best comedy of the year. That will give you a second perspective on life. As you watch Walter Blacks take solace from talking to and befriending a puppet, you will not help thinking that this is exactly what life is all about. That it gets to a point where you just cannot take it anymore and that you have to find an optional outlet somewhere else and for Walter, it is in the form of a puppet.
They say that there is a pleasure in madness that only the mad man knows and sure enough Walter Blacks (Mel Gibson) does not look sad as he makes friends with his puppet. The good thing is that even as his mind is gone he really does not know that it is gone. But in the Beavers movie, the emotion is totally different because you almost get an opportunity to share in the pain that is in the madness of Blacks.
Directed by Jodie Foster who also star in the movie, she warns that it is it not a comedy, yet it starts on a very comic. Even the music is comic. Walter attempts a suicide just when his wife (Foster) was about to kick him out of her life. She cannot take his years of hopelessness anymore. Walters who has gone bonkers cannot take much of the real life and therefore he tries to make it work with the beaver puppet. From this perspective is where he tries to face life a new. What will the culmination be? You will never know until you see the film.
